Clinical and medico-legal experience
Dr Sachdev has over 13 years’ experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist, with extensive work in liaison and community old age psychiatry. Her practice includes the relationship between cognitive change, mental illness, vulnerability and decision-making capacity.
Since August 2024, she has acted as a Court of Protection Special Visitor, assessing individuals as directed by the Court of Protection or the Office of the Public Guardian. Her independent work includes testamentary and retrospective assessments, capacity to make a gift, litigation capacity, LPA and property and financial affairs.

Approach to assessment
Questions of capacity often arise during legal uncertainty, family stress or clinical change. Dr Sachdev’s role is to provide an objective, evidence-based opinion, explain the reasoning clearly and identify any limits created by missing or conflicting evidence.
